The grades 5-6 Sunday School class meets Sunday mornings at 9:00 and is taught by Terri Good (aka Miss Terri). The class is offered concurrently on zoom and in-person in the lower level of Prince of Peace Church.
Right now, this class is taking a walk through the Bible. We are learning who wrote each book, when the book was written, why the book was written, and how the book points to Jesus and our salvation. So far, we have explored Genesis from Creation to the Flood to the Patriarchs and how the 12 Tribes of Israel arrived in Egypt. Next we will study Exodus and the story of how God delivered His people from slavery in Egypt, the 40 years in the wilderness, the 10 Commandments, and entry into the Promised Land. We will continue through all 66 books of the Bible. Some books will be touched on briefly, while others will be examined more closely.
I have no particular time-line for this journey, as I am creating the lessons as I go. I hope that over a 2-year span we will have made it to Revelation! The cool part about this journey is you don't have to start at the beginning of the Bible to learn about God's love for us - it is in every book, in every chapter, in every verse!
While the class is mainly for grades 5 and 6, our class is currently composed of children in grades 4-6.
Grades 4 and under
All preschoolers through 4th grade children are invited to join us on Zoom every Sunday at 11:00 am, taught by Laurie Fritz & Margaret Carreno.
If you would like to join us, please call Laurie Fritz or the church office or email the church office at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you the Zoom invite. The way Zoom works, you need to have the invite to join us.
What do we do? Laurie does the opening, (how are you, what did you do last week and so on.) This is an informal gathering and a “check-in” with the young people. After the opening, Margaret does the Bible story and asks questions. When the story is over, Laurie plays a video clip pertaining to the Bible story. We close with a prayer.
Our Sunday school only lasts about 20 minutes or so.
